Position Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the maintenance and operation of a fleet of vehicles and plants used in concrete operations. This role involves building on existing programs established by predecessors while ensuring continued efficiency and compliance. As a key member of the company Sea to Sky team this role has direct accountability for the safe, timely and cost effective maintenance and repair of all mobile, stationary and support equipment within the division.

Key Responsibilities

Health and Safety



Promote safety culture through engagement with employees and contractors, implementing and maintaining local and regional initiatives with an objective of zero safety incidents. 
Administer and promote policies & procedures and ensure that site meets or exceeds all government and the company's guidelines. 
Utilize company health and safety tools and contribute to the programs provided by the company. 
Maintain adherence to regulatory compliance standards (CVSE, WSBC, etc.) established by predecessors. 
Strengthen and expand current safety protocols and training programs for drivers and maintenance staff in collaboration with the site management team. 


Environmental



Maintain and expand initiatives to ensure environmentally responsible fleet operations. 
Manage spill responses, conduct investigations, and implement improvements identified as required. 
Build on current measures to reduce emissions and waste, seeking further improvements. 


Shop & Warehouse 



Maintain and improve the inventory management system for spare parts and tools. 
Build strong relationships with existing preferred vendors while exploring new partnerships for parts and services. 
Continue tracking and managing parts and equipment usage, refining processes where possible. 
Directly responsible for the motivation, scheduling, training, developing and supervision of all mobile equipment maintenance personnel in order to promote efficiency and dependability of the fleet and facilities. 
Continue effective cost-control measures while seeking new opportunities for savings. 


Equipment Fleet 



Continue and refine established preventive maintenance schedules and tracking. 
Build on existing practices to ensure timely repairs and minimize vehicle downtime. 
Regularly review and enhance vehicle performance monitoring and inspection programs. 
Create, delegate, and close work orders for maintenance and repairs, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and documented properly. 
Continue implementing and enhancing technology solutions (e.g., GPS tracking, fleet management software) to support fleet management. 
Reinforce daily maintenance procedures (i.e. Checking fluids, walk around inspections, problem indicators, etc.). 
Increase awareness of cost saving measures (i.e. oil analysis, predictive maintenance, unit cleanliness.) 
Continue effective cost-control measures while seeking new opportunities for savings. 
Central contact for warranty issues/dispute resolution. 
Coordinate technical updates (i.e. service bulletins, recalls, product updates, promotions, etc.). 
Manage all tire transactions for the Sea to Sky market to manage spend and forecast requirements. 
Control repair option decision-making. 


Plants



Coordinate seasonal equipment/plant inspections and repair with the RMX Operations and General Managers. 
Assist with plant repair options (i.e. contractors, suppliers, modifications, major components, cost effectiveness). 
Continue to build on existing maintenance schedules, inspections, and continuous improvement of concrete batch plants. 
Analyze current data to identify trends, building on past successes and implementing improvements. 


People



Strengthen communication and coordination with dispatch and operations teams, ensuring vehicle availability based on established protocols. 
Continue to improve communication with drivers regarding vehicle issues and maintenance schedules. 
Build on existing reporting processes to keep senior management informed about fleet status and performance. 
Build on current staff management practices, supervising and training mechanics, technicians, and other maintenance staff. 
Enhance existing scheduling systems and address any staffing challenges. 
Conducting performance evaluations and supporting staff development. 
Delegate work orders to appropriate staff members, ensuring the efficient use of resources and timely completion of tasks.

+/- 25 Commercial vehicles. 
Light duty fleet. 
3 Concrete plants 
Maintenance shop facility, parts storage and tooling. 
Manage 3 - 6 shop and warehouse employees (union and non-union) 


Relationships With Others



Partner with British Columbia and Pacific Northwest managers to assist with Equipment, Maintenance and Warehouse needs. 
Assess ability of outside repair shops/vendors to perform quality, timely and cost effective maintenance. 
Works closely with other market management, plant operators, and commercial drivers. 


Compensation: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 per annum

Qualification Profile

Education and Work Experience



10 years of progressive experience in a managerial capacity in the heavy equipment or construction industry. 
Technical diploma, Journeyman ticket preferably as a Heavy Equipment Technician or Commercial Transport Technician and/or equivalent work experience.
