Purpose of the policy

Our primary purpose in collecting information about you is to provide you with our services in a secure, efficient and personalized manner. This information allows us to provide you with services and features that meet your needs and to customize our service to make your experience safer and easier. The information we collect about you is only that which we deem necessary to fulfill this purpose. The nature and sensitivity of the personal information we collect about you will differ depending on the services we provide to you and the legal requirements with which we must comply.

Collection of Personal Information

Without your consent, we cannot collect personal information. However, without this data, we will not be able to provide you with access to the areas of our portal that offer the main services of our company. You will therefore be limited to the general public information areas.

In terms of the collection itself, here are the principles we apply:

a. We only collect personal information that is necessary to provide our various services to you. Wherever possible, we indicate which fields are mandatory and which are optional.

b. Since the freelance.ca portal is limited to persons 18 years of age or older, no information relating to minors will be kept in our system.

c. Data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected unless a legal or regulatory obligation prevents us from doing so.

d. You also have the right to have your personal data erased. You may therefore request us to delete your personal information in certain situations. If you have any questions or complaints, we invite you to contact our responsible person mentioned above.

e. Your personal data will never be exchanged with other users without your permission. However, please note that our services consist in

1. Putting service providers (generally identified as a "freelancer") and mandate providers in business relationship via projects;

2. Offer you support services for your business mission (example: professional insurance or time sheet management services);

3. In this context, the data requested and exchanged (with your consent) is done so in the context of an ongoing working relationship.

f. We may disclose your personal information to satisfy legal, regulatory, insurance, audit and security requirements, enforce our Terms of Use, respond to claims that any content violates the law or the rights of any third party, including intellectual property rights, or the safety of others. This information is disclosed in accordance with applicable Canadian and Quebec laws and regulations or otherwise with your consent. In particular, we may disclose, without subpoena, your personal information, including your first and last name, postal code, email address, telephone number (if available), history of your use of our sites, IP address and any other information that may be relevant, in response to a formal request from a regulatory agency in connection with a criminal investigation or alleged illegal activities or any other activity that could expose freelance.ca to legal liability.

Ensuring the protection of personal information

Your information is stored on servers located in Canada. We protect personal information in our custody or control by employing physical, electronic and managerial safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These measures include the use of firewalls, encryption and data filtering technologies. The security of your information is also your responsibility. Your password is an essential tool in protecting your account. We advise you not to share it with anyone. If you lose control of your password, you may also lose substantial control over your personal information and may be subject to legally binding actions taken on your behalf.
