Position Summary:

The Shipping Project and Maintenance Analyst will have two main focuses: primary responsibility for administering and coordinating the execution of mechanical maintenance activities for the Shipping Department at the Exshaw Plant, and assisting in a variety of project based assignments related to Exshaw Shipping.

In carrying out the duties of this position, a primary objective is to improve the value of all Company assets at the Exshaw Shipping Department through increasing reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines.

Responsibilities:

Safety Culture:



Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC and subcontractors, implementation and management of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents
Administer, promote and review safety policies, processes and procedures to maintain relevance while ensuring the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
Has ownership of the implementation and management of all local and regional safety initiatives, providing feedback as necessary



Operational: 



Responsible for all shipping department equipment maintenance. Must be capable of analyzing and forecasting mechanical requirements so that effective planning and work scheduling can be accomplished in a cost effective manner, while still meeting plant production goals.
Establish the Shipping Department’s daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance work schedules based on specific requests, the preventative maintenance program, inspections and predictive based work orders.
Work in conjunction with the Exshaw Plant Production and maintenance departments to understand other plant maintenance activities and how they relate to the Shipping Department.
Manage parts sourcing, purchasing, receiving and inventories related to the shipping department.
Purchase orders issued to appropriate vendors and receipt of goods recorded.
Organize and manage necessary contractor activities.
Assist with the shipping department operations as needed.



Projects:



In conjunction with the Production Coordinator, identify any needed improvements (capital or non-capital) that would improve operations or productivity at the plant.
Assist with other Logistics Group projects / initiatives on an as-needed basis.



Relationships with Others Functions:



Works closely with sales, manufacturing and logistics team
Works closely with plant staff, quality and area safety staff



Specific Accountabilities:



Promotes safety culture
Operates within forecasted budget limits for overtime and contractor work – maximizes the value of all available resources 
Develops and implements effective maintenance systems 
Provide key operational data and analysis
Ensure best practices are implemented, utilized and supported
Assist with capital planning and status reporting



Qualification Profile:

Education/Work Experience:



Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Business or the equivalent of education and experience.



Knowledge & Skills:



Excellent organizational and planning skills, process-oriented
Strong analytical skills, research, problem solving and decision making
Strong reliability experience 
Proficiency with various computer applications is a definite asset
Good written and verbal communications 
Good time management, self-directed, uses time wisely, can attend to a broad range of activities
