NOTE: Hybrid Work Model, office located in Toronto. Work 2 days/week in office.




Status: 12-Month Contract, 8 hour work day, 40 hours/week

DESCRIPTION: 

Overview:

The Data Specialist will report to the Data Analytics Manager; she/he will work closely with various investments and corporate teams on analytics to support decision-making

What you will do:


Support the team in delivering key reports, insights and visualizations per priorities set by the business 
Working closely with team, analyze and interpret complex sets of data. 
Develop data pipeline to capture data from multiple sources/formats. 
Perform data preparation and data modelling to enable easy consumption for reporting purposes. 
Implement well-designed, scalable, and automated reports using current and emerging technology. 
Visualize data and metrics to produce insightful reports by following design standard. 
Identify and provide recommendations for improvements in our data analytics practices. 
Participate in status meetings; report and communicate on status as appropriate. 
Opportunity to experiment with Large Language Model, assist and develop predictive analysis, and/or Gen-AI applications. 
Contribute to the design and implementation of various data foundations and architecture to support long-term analytical needs 
Be able to research independently for potential solutions to problems encountered in programming 
Stay updated with technological trends and direction; continuously upgrading personal, technical, and IT-related skills. 
Utilize innovative approaches to identify, analyze, and solve complex data challenges, ensuring efficient and effective outcomes 
Translate complex technical information into clear, concise insights for non-technical stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making across the organization

REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor's or master's degree in quantitative domains: Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
Minor or advanced degree in Finance is an asset.
3+ years’ experience in business-oriented data analytics.
Passion for data analysis and problem-solving to support investment decision-making
Self-motivated, ability to do independent research
Strong communication skills, ability to articulate thoughts / ideas to effectively collaborate with a variety of teams from both investments and technology
Desire to work in a team-based and collaborative environment
Strong programming skills (Python, SQL)
Experience with data warehousing and big data technologies such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Spark, Databricks etc.
Proficient with data visualization tools: PBI/Tableau etc.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and related services 
High degree of interest in investment and asset management.
Experience in industry or an academic setting of: 
Full cycle of analytics solution development 
Strong problem-solving skills
