Job Summary:

Reporting to the EVP, Legal, the Director, Legal & General Counsel will manage the legal and compliance team, offering strategic legal advice to the executive team and ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the legal and compliance team.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to the Board and Executive team.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
  • Manage relationships with insurer legal and compliance teams.
  • Oversee legal, compliance, and reporting tasks.
  • Negotiate with OEMs and insurers.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies for regulatory and privacy changes.
  • Guide cross-functional teams on legal and compliance matters.
  • Oversee corporate insurance and staff licensing.
  • Handle regulatory inquiries and public consultations.
  • Support employee relations and financing arrangements.
  • Manage intellectual property and litigation.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies.

Required Skills:

Education:

  • LL.B. or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • General and Life Insurance Licensing valued.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in corporate and commercial law, with a focus on financial services and insurance law.
  • Proven strategic legal advice to senior executives.
  • M&A experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance, contract law, and regulatory compliance.

Rewards:

  • Competitive compensation: $180,000 to $230,000.
