Objective
The primary objective of the Process Engineer is providing technical support to improve and maintain the performance of the plant operations through process and quality data analysis, field measurements, equipment inspections, improvement projects and providing technical recommendations. As part of the Production/Process Department, he/she continually strives to support the plant’s current and long-term goals in order to move the plant towards great performance with the objective of manufacturing the high quality cement that meet customer demands respecting the environment.
Responsibilities
Safety:
Assist in the implementation and compliance of Lafarge Safety Program to ensure personnel are working in a safe manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
Ensures all aspects of their role are executed in a safe manner. Pursues a culture of safety that is best in class with an objective of “zero” injuries or incidents.
Actively engages with the employees to reinforce safe behaviors, demonstrate overall commitment to safety through the VPCs, involvement in the team based safety and housekeeping activities.
Working closely with production department: interaction with CROs and field operators, assist production personnel in troubleshooting and solving operation problems, works closely with the automation group in the development and/or modification of the control system.
Optimize the day to day operations of the cement manufacturing process.
Process optimization through technical studies, trials, project modifications, process measurements, establishing operating targets and analysis data.
Provide support and manage CRO utilization of Lafarge optimization software and tools to achieve process stability and improve Key Performance Indicators.
Ensure that any changes to the plant's equipment or design are reviewed with the Environment Analyst to ensure that any relevant regulatory requirements are identified and met.
Identify, participate in and/or lead continues improvement projects.
Working closely with quality department for raw mix homogeneity improvements, follow up the clinker and cement quality.
Identify and promote behaviors in order to respect the procedures and quality standards.
Be familiar with and support the plant's Environmental Management System including being aware of any specific duties outlined in the program.
Provide support to Environment department with process changes to ensure environmental compliance.
Working closely with maintenance department for maintenance inspections and improvements.
Striving for continuous improvement of equipment performance, reliability, efficiency and effectiveness (as active member of the Process Improvement Team).
Determine areas for significant process improvements and assist with the implementation of such projects

Contribute to the analysis of equipment breakdown and non-optimal running
Define and implement improvements to existing process and optimal solutions to process problems
Ensure permanent monitoring of key process and operation parameters & data, inspection of stopped equipment and organize process reviews
Contribute to new technology /new processes /new product development
Keep track of trials, process activities, solutions tested and process inspections
Ensure progress in process control loop and automation

Education & Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering is required. Other engineering fields (i.e., Geologic, Metallurgical, Electrical, and Industrial) may be considered.
A minimum of 2 years of continuous process industry experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the cement industry is required. Other industry experience may be considered (i.e., pulp/paper, steel, glass, lime, petroleum, and chemical).
Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
Experience in a culture that placed strong emphasis on self-sufficiency and service orientation.
Proven ability and analytical approach to problem solving; particularly those of a technical nature.
Familiarity of working with environmental regulations in continuous co-process manufacturing industry is a plus.
