Overview
Manage the daily operational activities of the Aggregate business in the NAB Market to achieve all targets, budgets, objectives and goals. The mandate of this role is to drive operational excellence and performance to achieve all and production targets, budgets, objectives and goals.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
Lead the business with the utmost focus on health & safety
Proactively implement Lafarge best practices, engage with all levels of employees in this regard and ensure that personnel are actively seeking out real time solutions to identified risks
Provide visible and felt health & safety leadership
Responsible for production, maintenance and maximum utilization of equipment and personnel
Review processes for upgrade and improvement and select proper equipment and personnel
Responsible for the development of operational plans
Lead the co-ordination between Sales, Service, Marketing, Logistics and Operations
Interpret and monitor material quality specs and adapt equipment and processes to meet requirements
Create an atmosphere of teamwork and ensure the development of personnel and arbitrate to resolve conflicts
Assist in the development of all budgets, targets, strategies and objectives and work towards the same
Communicate and co-ordinate inter-divisionally and inter-regionally
Community, landowner, and governmental relations
Seek out and implement Best Practices
Coordinate with the Performance Team for CAPEX and Lease recommendations and approvals
Assist in the development of all budgets, targets, strategies and objectives and work towards the same
Accurately and timely forecast tonnage and ASP of products
Assist in the preparation of monthly production activity reports and provide accurate month-end production data required for financial statements
Participate in monthly financial review analysis
Prepare required reports in a concise and timely manner
Responsible for the Operations personnel at 5 mobile crushing and washing spreads and multiple active sites
Responsible for Works Managers, Resource Managers, Safety Coordinators, Analysts and Administrators
Close interaction with Quality personnel
Close interaction with the Logistics Team, Sales force, Land Manager, Environment Team, and Quality Control department in the Greater Edmonton Area
Interact with other Lafarge product lines, including supply of products and services
Work collaboratively with other aggregate operations that report to the same General Manager
3.5 Million plus tonnes of production
Utilize $50 million in Assets
Salaried staff of 6
Hourly staff of ~150 to 200 people non-union
Management of $45 million in costs
Management of mobile crushing and washing spreads
Multiple active sites
Education And Work Experience
Undergraduate degree in construction management, engineering, or business (or a technical/business diploma with equivalent experience) is an asset
A minimum of 10 years relevant and progressive experience
Strong experience with aggregate equipment and processes
Relevant combination of education and experience will be considered
