Task description and requirements

Description:

You will work in the context of the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) which provides the multi-cloud foundation and a layer of abstraction for all applications to run on both public clouds and private cloud.
More specifically you will work on the technical Backing Service Kafka, one of our Big Data services that are bound and consumed by applications on the SAP Business Technology Platform. We will enhance our service by providing the "Tiered Storage" capability. This enhancement will make storing huge volumes of data in Kafka manageable by reducing operational burden and cost, which is an indispensable capability for specific usage scenarios within SAP while also offering TCO improvements to a wider range of use cases within SAP.

Essential technical and experience criteria for the position are:
- Sound understanding of cloud native architecture & development and cloud platforms
- Excellent hands-on proficiency in: Java and Bash, preferably also in Scala
- Confidence working within Unix / Linux shell environments
- IaaS experience with one of AWS, Azure, GCP, preferably experience with cloud object storage technologies such as S3
- Ideally some prior experience with Kafka, usage or even contributions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English (written and spoken), preferably also German
