Task description and requirements
We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications to patients, ensuring high-quality pharmaceutical services.
- Assist pharmacists to maintain inventories of medications and prescription records of pharmaceutical products
- Assess prescriptions for completeness and ensure information is accurate
- Gather and enter client information in databases and prepare medications for clients in collaboration with pharmacists
- Compound pharmaceutical products such as intravenous injections, oral solutions, ointments and creams
- Process payment of prescriptions and other pharmacy services including direct billing to third party insurers
- Provide excellent customer service to patients by answering questions, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive pharmacy experience
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Strong patient care skills
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures
- Experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred
- Qualifying Exam with the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC)
- Registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician
- Pharmacy Technician Licence (required)
