Overview

The Senior Finance Analyst is responsible for recurring financial statement reporting, market and customer research, analysis, and interpretation. Provides business support to the General Manager and plant managers. The Senior Finance Analyst participates in the monthly review of financial statements, financial forecasting and annual Strategic Frameworks. .

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:



Manage accounting and reporting functions of operations including preparation of management reports
Interpret events and activities from a financial perspective
Maintain proper financial and accounting controls
Work closely with the business to prepare annual budgeting and forecasting activities
Interact and collaborate with operations.
Work in concert with the finance team in Edmonton to drive standardization of activities across the product lines
Change agent for process and system improvements
Manage the inventory at several sites through monthly balance review and reconciliation of survey results to physical
Reconciliation of asset and liability accounts on the product line Balance Sheet.
Review sales and cost allocations on a regular basis to ensure accurate reporting of financial statements.
Assist with development and monitoring of sales budgets and forecasts for volumes, selling prices and costs.
Responsible for recurring monthly reporting, variance analysis and metrics tracking.
Assist plant managers and their teams with developing internal reports.
Assist with development of Business Unit business strategies.

Dimensions



Reports directly to the Controller- NAB.
Indirect reporting relationship to General Manager.
Frequent interface with Plant Managers, Customer Value Center, and IT personnel.


Qualification Profile

Education & Work Experience:



CPA (CMA, CA, or CGA) designation or MBA or in progress preferred.
Bachelor's degree in business or related fields preferred.
Financial Experience preferred. 


Knowledge & Skills



Understanding and knowledge of financial statements.
Experienced in strategic, financial and market analysis.
Comfortable operating in a matrix role. 
Excellent analytical skills.
Strong project management ability and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Good interpersonal skills, and strong “process consulting” abilities.
Good presentation skills (PowerPoint and oral presentations).
Able to perform in dynamic environment, handling multiple tasks concurrently.
Strong self-initiator.
Strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SAP).
